HITS-SIMPLAIX Joint Colloquium Simon Olsson: How Can Generative AI Help Understand the Physics of Molecules?

Generative AI, including large language models and image generation technologies, is influencing society and industry broadly. Current, Generative AI methods are machine learned models. These models learn statistical distributions similar to those broadly used across the sciences, for instance in statistical physics. My talk will discuss how scientists are integrating these technologies with existing scientific knowledge to advance research, focusing on molecular sciences. I will detail how we are developing Generative AI to improve molecular dynamics simulations, potentially supporting drug discovery and materials design in the near future.
